In the past weeks, I have been exploring other platforms for selling online. I’ve looked at quite a few options, all having their pro’s and con’s. Many times I found myself thinking Etsy is really the better option – if only they would handle the VAT, if only they would be more caring, attentive, responsive to their loyal seller community.
Following the new EU VAT rule concerning the sale of digital goods, and Etsy’s total silence and lack of solutions to its sellers (including me), I am going on a quest to find a new marketplace to set up shop in, one which will handle the VAT for me. I have not found articles listing possible options, so I will attempt to create one myself.
A storm is shaking my little world.
The European Union has implemented a new law regarding the sales of digital services\goods, known as VAT MOSS (also read VAT MESS). Etsy, after notifying its sellers about it, has been keeping quiet. This week plus of silence has greatly affected the way I feel about Etsy, causing me to muse over brand experiences in general and with Etsy specifically, and to re-think of where my business is heading.
