Flowers & leaves on black paper

This adventure with opaque watercolors, which started with the herbal blossom is still exciting me, and the way the black paper makes everything pop mesmerizes me.

I recorded the process of creating this little floral:

I mixed watercolors with a bit of Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed Proof White to create these opaque shades. The paper I had isn’t thick and is a very smooth bristol. Painting on it with these opaque paints was a joyous experience – there is absolutely no friction between brush and paper, the creamy paint seems to almost glide onto the paper.
